My name is Christina.

I live in Rustavi.Rustavi is a small city near Tbilisi, the Georgian capital.

At first glance this is an ordinary city where most of the buildings are in the style of the Soviet Union, but I'll tell you and show you the most ancient part which is almost twenty-five centuries old!

I'll tell you about the historical and mystical place in my city: Fortress Arisha!

Here our town archaeologists have discovered pottery and swords are almost six thousand years old, when residents of these places had been trading with many countries and lived in prosperity. Approximately twenty-five centuries ago the inhabitants of a rich settlement here built a fortress to protect themselves and their wealth

For centuries the city of Rustavi was the residence of Georgian kings and powerful nobles.

The peak of greatness and wealth for my city were from the Middle Ages until the time of the Mongol invasion.

In 1265 after the brutal invasion by Bake Cain, the city ceased to exist for centuries.

All that remains of the greatness of ancient times is the fortress ruins.

These ruins have seen victories and defeats, heroism and betrayal, love and hate.

Georgians say that the place where blood was shed poppies grow. In the spring in the field in front of the fortress a lot of poppies grow.

Now the fortress walls are covered with spiders and cobwebs.

Secret passageways which helped children and the elderly escape during the ancient battles have crumbled.

Sun, wind, rain, and snow over the centuries have destroyed the stones and bricks,

but the fortress has not lost its grandeur and beauty.

The ruins beckon us and at the same time scare us.

Many tell us that late at night you can hear voices and groans.

Some claim they have seen ghosts.

If one considers that during archaeological excavations the remains of many soldiers and even the bare bones of a decapitated girl were discovered, these ghost stories are not surprising.
